Founded in 2024, Macfield Construction is led by Aaron Whitfield and Joel Cowie; two industry veterans with a combined 45+ years of hands‑on experience across residential, commercial, and major infrastructure projects. Their work has helped shape some of Queensland’s most notable builds, and that experience guides the way we operate today.
Our approach is straightforward: understand what our clients want, stay ahead of potential risks, and deliver work that meets the highest standards of quality and compliance. It’s a framework that keeps projects running smoothly and ensures every detail is handled properly.
While Macfield Construction is a new name, the expertise behind it is anything but. We bring the strength of experience and a forward-thinking approach to how we work. Every strong legacy starts with a solid foundation - let’s build yours together.

Aaron Whitfield – Director
Aaron brings more than 20 years of experience to Macfield, with a career that spans residential building, underground mining, and major commercial projects. Over the years, he’s built a strong reputation for practical problem solving and steady, reliable leadership.
He's been involved in significant projects including the National Rugby Training Centre at Ballymore, the Metricon Stadium Redevelopment, and the Olympic Winter Training Facility at the Chandler Sports Complex. Known for navigating complex projects, Aaron started Macfield with a simple focus: get the detail right, plan well, build well, and bring in a team you can rely on.
Joel Cowie - Director
Joel has 25+ years’ experience across commercial, defence, modular and remote‑area construction, advancing from trade level to Construction Manager. He delivers end‑to‑end project leadership in modular building delivery, civil works, structural coordination, services integration, heavy lifts, commissioning and defect management.
He has led major projects across Australia and the Pacific; including Weipa, Cape York, Vanuatu, Manus Island, the Pilbara and regional Queensland. He specialises in remote modular housing programs that demand program optimisation, culturally sensitive engagement and complex marine, air and heavy‑haul logistics. Recognised for practical problem solving and clear communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors and local and Indigenous workforces, Joel consistently delivers high‑quality outcomes in logistically challenging environments.
Together, Aaron and Joel bring the experience and teamwork that shape how Macfield operates.

Macfield Construction takes care of the whole project from start to finish, keeping things organised and easy to follow. We help you plan your budget, manage costs, and work closely with architects and engineers to make sure your design comes together the right way and meets all requirements.
These steps sit on the three things we build every job around: getting clear on your objectives, managing risks and safety properly, and keeping quality and compliance tight from day one.
Once the planning is sorted, we keep the job moving. Our team handles the scheduling, procurement, permits and subcontractors, so everything stays on track and runs smoothly. We’re big on communication, so you always know what’s happening and what’s coming up next.
Quality and safety aren’t just boxes to tick for us, they’re part of how we work every day. Whether it’s a commercial project, modular build or heritage refurbishment, we tailor the process to suit the job and keep things as simple and as stress‑free as possible for you.
